Ana + AlejandroMoraine Lake & Rimrock Resort Wedding, Banff, AB

Ana and Alex chose what is arguably one of the most picturesque locations in all of Canada for their first look and wedding photography. But why wouldn’t you when you have traveled all the way from the UK? You can bet I was THRILLED when this incredible couple asked me to be their wedding photographer!!

The Rocky Mountains meant more to Alex and Ana than just the stunning view. Living on separate continents while dating meant that visits were rare and treasured. One of these visits was their first road trip together in Kootenay, BC in the Rocky Mountains. They decided to welcome family from all over the world to celebrate with them at this unforgettable location – many who would meet for the first time.

It was so easy to get swept up in the excitement of their day as every guest evidently shared in the emotion of this significant day in Ana and Alex’s relationship. It is such a pleasure to photograph people who are so fully present in a moment – especially one like this long-awaited milestone and the celebration to follow. It was THE BEST celebration we have ever photographed! Scroll through to the end to see what their family planned for la hora loca – the crazy-hour! A Peruvian tradition to reignite the energy at 11:00pm to keep the party going!

A family member so kindly lent the couple this car for their wedding day! So, of course, we stopped on a roadside pull-off with a great view to snap a few shots as a thank-you!

A little backstory for you…

In our consultation, Ana and Alex told me they were going to do a choreographed tango as the entrance to their reception! Uh… HECK YES I would love to photograph that! Here is the best part: while they were dating, Alex took secret dance lessons for a YEAR so he could dance with her. He said to me, “I could either sit on the side and watch her dance with other people for the rest of my life, or I could figure this out.” And he did. Their self-choreographed routine was captivating and definitely stands out as the most epic reception entrance I have ever seen!

Well if that isn’t spectacular, I don’t know what is! Who needs TLC wedding shows when you get to see this… and photograph it!!! Haha. Now, onto speeches and slideshows! And, of course, the long-awaited reveal of the “la hora loca!” Which may have involved Darth Vader doing the limbo…

I hope you enjoyed experiencing a glimmer of this incredible day. Congratulations to you, Alex and Ana. It was our honor to be a part of the such a significant day in your lifelong adventure.
